Description

The BSN Leukotape P Combi Pack is a combination pack of heavy duty strapping tape for the management of patella femoral pain using the McConnell Taping Technique. The BSN Leukotape P Combi Pack is the best known combination pack on the market, and is supplied  as a single box with both rolls inside. It is used as a Patella taping kit or can also be used for shoulder joint taping.

The BSN Leukotape P Combi Pack contains:

  • 1 roll of Fixomull Stretch (5cm x 10m).
  • 1 roll of Leukotape (3.8cm x 13.7m).

Leukotape is a high quality zinc oxide tape with high tensile strength and a strong, porous adhesive that is hand tearable. It is a heavy-duty strapping tape with aggressive adhesive that is especially suited for patellofemoral taping.

Fixomull (Hypafix) is a non woven fixation tape from BSN Medical. It is a non-allergenic under-wrap ideal for all taping techniques, and minimizes common skin reactions to tape e.g itching and rashes.

Fixomull should always be applied under the Leukotape to give it the perfect surface for strapping and taping joints up.

Uses

The BSN Leukotape P Combi Pack is ideal for the treatment of patellofemoral pain, and strapping and taping joints up. It may also be used for shoulder joint taping.

Leukotape zinc oxide tape is a rigid strapping tape that are used in situations where a tape is required to immobilize a joint.

Fixomull Stretch is a fixation tape that is used to protect the skin before applying Leukotape.

Application

• After a thorough assessment of the patella by a medical professional, the knee is ready for taping.
• Remove the Leukotape and Fixomull Stretch from the packaging.
• Shave the knee if necessary, then measure the required length of Fixomull Stretch from the lateral femoral condyle posterior to the medial femoral condyle.
• Tape the knee area with two pieces of Fixomull Stretch, so that the patella is completely covered.
• Reassess the position of the patella.
• Correct the tilt of the patella using Leukotape P from the middle of the patella to the medial femoral condyle: lift the soft tissue on the medial side towards the midline of the patella and affix the tape.
• Correct the glide of the patella by taping from the lateral border medially. Lift the medial soft tissue towards the midline and affix the tape.
• In the case of correcting the rotation of the patella, externally rotate by placing the tape on the distal pole (i.e. midline and inferiorly), and rotate the patella from lateral to medial by pulling the tape in the same direction.
• Re-check the position to ensure the patella is level.
• If the patella is not parallel with the plane of the femur, an additional correction tape will be necessary.
• Repeat the activity that previously caused the pain to see if the pain has been considerably reduced.
