Description
Description
The PharmaCare Infrared Ear Thermometer has been developed for measuring human body temperature from the ear canal and is designed for use on people of all ages. You can select between 3 measure age modes: adult mode, baby mode and neonate mode. In addition, this device is also suitable for measuring object and room temperature. The thermometer has disposable probe covers that are easy to replace after every reading to guarantee hygienic and accurate results and to avoid spreading germs and earwax buildup. This can be done as a contact-free replacement without touching the used probe cover to avoid cross-contamination thanks to the cap ejector button.
The PharmaCare Infrared Ear Thermometer has 30 groups of measurement data memory function, can be switched between mute and un-mute mode, has a fever alarm function, displays time on LCD display screen and has an automatic shut down after 30 seconds to save battery life.
The temperature measurement range is 32°C – 42.9°C (89.6°F – 109.2°F) with the accuracy of +/-0.2°C (0.4°F).
Size: 150mm x 35mm x 61mm
The PharmaCare Infrared Ear Thermometer contains:
- PharmaCare Infrared Ear Thermometer
- 2 x AA Battery
- 21 x Probe Covers
- Pouch
- User Manual
Uses
The PharmaCare Infrared Ear Thermometer is intended for measuring human body temperature from the ear canal. In addition, this device is also suitable for measuring object and room temperature.
Application
- Insert the batteries
- Always make sure the probe is clean and without damage
- Do not hold the thermometer for a long time, because it can be sensitive to the ambient temperature
- After each measurement, clean the temperature probe with a soft cloth and put the thermometer in a dry and well-ventilated place
- You should wait at least 10 seconds between each measurement
- If your device shows any accuracy issues, please remove the battery and reset the thermometer
- To turn off the device keep pressing the measure button for 6 seconds, the unit will shut down automatically after 10 seconds
How to Replace Probe Cover:
- Remove the head cover from the tip of the thermometer
- Remove one of the ear probes covers from the box
- Place the ear probe cover on the thermometer tip
- Ensure that the probe cover is securely attached to the ear thermometer
- The hygiene cap icon will blink when the probe cover is not securely attached, and measurement won’t be taken
- Use the thermometer as appropriate
- Dispose of the used probe cover by pressing the release button directly over the bin
How to use Age Mode Convertion:
- You must select an age in order to take a measurement (the default mode is Adult Mode)
- When turned on, press the “AGE” button to toggle through each age group
- When the screen shows an infant icon, it turns to Neonate Mode (0-3 months of age)
- When the screen shows a crawling baby icon, it turns to Baby Mode (3-36 months of age)
- When the screen shows a standing person icon, it turns to Adult Mode (over 36 months of age)
How to Set a Time:
- Turn on the thermometer and press the “MEM” button for 3 seconds
- Release the button when the minute digit is flashing
- Press the “MEM” button to switch H/M digit when flashing
- Press the “AGE” button to set the hour time
- The time setting will be finished when you press the measure button or automatically after 6 seconds
How to Take Ear Temperature Reading:
- Make sure the probe is clean and without damage
- Make sure the user and the thermometer are in the same room for at least 30 minutes before the measurement
- Remove the head cover and install the probe cover tightly
- Fit the probe snuggly into the ear canal and direct it towards the opposite temple
- Press and release the measure button
- After 1 second you will hear a beep and the temperature can be read
How to Read Your Temperature (“T” indicates a temperature reading):
Neonate Mode:
- If 32°C ≤ T ≤ 37.4°C (89.6°F ≤ T ≤ 99.4°F) the green light indicates a normal temperature has been measured
- If 37.5°C ≤ T ≤ 42.9°C (101.4°F ≤ T ≤ 109.2°F) the red indicates a high fever has been measured
Baby Mode:
- If 32°C ≤ T ≤ 37.6°C (89.6°F ≤ T ≤ 99.6°F) the green light indicates a normal temperature has been measured
- If 37.7°C ≤ T ≤ 38.5°C (99.7°F ≤ T ≤ 101.3°F) the orange light indicates a fever has been measured
- If 38.6°C ≤ T ≤ 42.9°C (101.4°F ≤ T ≤ 109.2°F) the red light indicates a high fever has been measured
Adult Mode:
- If 32°C ≤ T ≤ 37.7°C (89.6°F ≤ T ≤ 99.9°F) the green light indicates a normal temperature has been measured
- If 37.8°C ≤ T ≤ 39.4°C (100°F ≤ T ≤ 103°F) the orange light indicates a fever has been measured
- If 39.5°C ≤ T ≤ 42.9°C (103.1°F ≤ T ≤ 109.2°F) the red light indicates a high fever has been measured
How to Measure Object/Room Temperature:
- Long press the MEM button for 3 seconds
- The screen will display °F/°C
- Keep the thermometer about 1 – 3 cm (0.4 – 1.2 inches) away from the object
- Press the measure button to take a measurement
- You will hear a beep and the screen will be into a full display
- It will complete a temperature reading after 1 second
- When taking room/object temperature, a probe cover is not required
How to Switch Between Mute and Un-mute:
- Make sure the device is turned on
- Long press the AGE button for 3 seconds to switch from un-mute to mute
How to Switch Between °C and °F:
- Open the battery cover
- Use the toggle to switch between °C and °F
How to Check 30 Sets of Memory Data:
- Make sure the device is turned on
- Press the MEM button for 1 second to enter memory mode
- Press this button again to check the 30 sets of memories one by one
- If there are no values, it will display 3 horizontal lines and an M
- The memory data will be lost when the batteries are removed
How to Replace the Battery:
- Slide the battery cover off
- Remove the used batteries
- Put two AA batteries correctly into the compartment
- Slide back the battery cover until it clicks
- The memory data will be lost when removing the batteries
- Remove the batteries if the thermometer will not be in use for more than two months
Temperature Taking Tips:
- It is important to know each individual’s normal temperature when they are well, as this is the only way to accurately diagnose a fever. Record readings twice a day (early morning and late afternoon) and take the average of the two temperatures to calculate the patient’s normal oral equivalent temperature. Always take the temperature in the same location, as temperature readings may vary from different locations on the forehead
- A child’s normal temperature can be as high as 37.7°C (99.9°F) or as low as 36.1°C (97.0°F). Please note that this unit reads 0.5°C (0.9°F) lower than a rectal digital thermometer
- Holding the thermometer for too long in the hand before taking a measurement can cause the device to warm up. This means the measurement could be incorrect
- Both the patient and the thermometer should stay in steady-state room conditions
- Before placing the thermometer sensor onto the forehead, remove all dirt, hair, or sweat from the forehead area. Wait 10 minutes after cleaning before taking the measurement
- Use an alcohol swab to carefully clean the sensor and wait for 5 minutes before taking a measurement on another patient. Wiping the forehead with a warm or cool cloth may impact your reading. It is advised to wait 10 minutes before taking a reading
- It is recommended that 3-5 temperatures in the same location be taken and the highest one taken as the reading of newborn infants in the first 100 days, children under three years of age with a compromised immune system and for whom the presence or absence of fever is critical and when the user is learning how to use the thermometer for the first time until he/she has familiarized himself/herself with the instrument and obtains consistent readings
