- S1 Plus
Uses
The PharmaCare Blood Pressure Monitor Large Cuff is used as a replacement cuff for PharmaCare blood pressure monitors and can help to accurately measure your blood pressure on the upper arm.
Application
Correctly Positioning the Cuff
- Remove the cuff from the packaging
- Insert the edge of the cuff approximately 5 centimetres into the D-ring
- Put the cuff on the left upper arm with the tube pointing to the direction of the palm. If taking a measurement on your left arm is difficult, you can use the right arm, but it is necessary to know that the readings may differ about 5-10mmHg between the left arm and right arms
- Wrap the cuff around the upper arm, with the lower edge of the cuff approximately 2-3 centimetres above the elbow. The mark <ARTERY> must be over the artery of the arm
- Press the cuff to make sure that it is attached securely. The cuff should not be too tight or loose. It should be possible to put two fingers in between the cuff and the upper arm
- The mark <INDEX> on the cuff must point to area <NORMAL>. This means the cuff size is correct.
- Press the ‘O/I START’ or ‘START’ button to begin the blood pressure reading
- For additional information please refer to the Instruction Manual for your device
Tips to Ensure Accurate Readings
- If the users clothing is restricting blood flow in the upper arm, or if rolling up the sleeve causes restriction, please remove if necessary to ensure an accurate measurement
- The cuff should be firmly secured but not too tight – just enough so that it is difficult, but possible, to slide 2 fingers under the cuff. This space is imperative for an accurate reading
- Relax the arm and place the elbow on a table so that the cuff is at the same level as the heart
- Turn the palm of the hand upward
- Before taking the measurement, ensure that there are no kinks in the air tubing
- Do not rest the elbow on the air tube when taking a blood pressure reading
