Description

Attends Slip Regular are all-in-one products designed to manage heavy urinary and/or faecal incontinence. The adjustable tapes are designed to provide a close and comfortable fit to minimise leakages. There are four re-sealable fixation tapes for ease of fitting and a white breathable back sheet for improved comfort, discretion and skin health. The wetness indicator acts as a guide to when the pad requires changing, and there is also an elasticated waistband for improved fit.

The pad contains an anatomically shaped core for a close comfortable fit, curved leg elastics for improved fit and leakage protection and leakage barriers that reduce the risk of leakage. There is a superabsorbent core with an acquisition layer for improved leakage protection, skin dryness and odour protection, and the breathable textile like wings provide comfort and support around the waist and improved skin health. This pad is designed for men and women with little to no bladder and/or bowel control. Can be used for night-time incontinence and bedwetting and is also an alternative for children. The size and absorbency level is printed on the back sheet for easy identification. The product is made of breathable material that has the ability to allow air to flow through. The use of this material helps the skin to be exposed to air, which can stimulate skin health, without causing leakage.

Attends Slip Regular have an Active Zone, which is the name given to the central part of the pad (also referred to as Mid 50) that contains a relatively high percentage of the raw materials Fluff and SAP compared to the edges (front and back) of the pad. It is generally accepted that the ‘pee point’ is situated in the centre of the pad which is why there is a need for high absorption and containment in this part of the product. It also has Quick-Dry, which is the acquisition layer placed directly below the top sheet where the urine enters the pad. It quickly absorbs urine away from the skin and into the pad and prevents the urine returning to the surface. It can handle several gushes of urine without affecting how the pad works which results in skin dryness and leakage protection for the user.

The SAP in the core of the product locks urine away from the surface of the pad and from the skin, thereby reducing the risk of leakage. The more effectively urine is locked away inside the pad, the less risk of ammonia being formed. Ammonia is formed when urine comes into contact with oxygen and causes an unpleasant smell. The core technology with the curly fibre acquisition layer helps to guarantee a low pH which is similar to the skin. This helps to protect the skin and ensures improved skin health. Attends products are tested and approved to be skin friendly by proderm, Institute for Applied Dermatological Research.

Uses

Application

Preparation:
• Measure the hips and waist and using the larger of these two measurements to ensure that the correct product size is selected
• Open the product fully and position the end with the wings and fixation tapes to the back ensuring that the wings are fully opened before applying the pad
• Make sure the back sheet is on the outside and the soft white inner lining is next to the skin
• Gently fold and cup the pad lengthways to ensure that the leakage barriers stand up

Fitting:
• Position the pad between the legs so that it fits snugly to the wearer and that it fits comfortably in the groin area
• Use the wetness indicator to help to position and centre the pad
• Gently pull the wing around to the front of the pad and fasten the tapes
• Fasten the bottom tapes first in an upwards direction to give a close fit around the groin area and then fasten the top tapes in a downwards direction to ensure a snug, comfortable fit

Hints & Tips: Selection
• Consider selecting Attends shaped pad/pants before using Slips – they offer much greater discretion
• Choose the Slip according to hip or waist size – whichever is the largest
• Choose the absorbency based on the volume of urine passed. Start by choosing a lower absorbency number for example level 8 before moving to a higher absorbency for a more discreet and comfortable fit
• Slips can offer effective management for people who may pull out shaped pads

Hints & Tips: Fitting
• Ensure you keep the ruffles on the flexible leg gathers on the outside of the Slip
• Keep the adhesive tapes at the back when fitting the Slip – you then know it is the right way round
• When fastening the Slip, fasten the bottom tapes first in an upwards direction and then the top tapes in a downwards direction to give a snug, comfortable fit
• If the product is fitted when the user is laying down follow the same sequence as for fitting the pad in a standing position. To ensure the pad stays in position, place a hand on the back of the Slip when turning the client
• Use the wetness indicator to centre the whole pad

Hints & Tips: Changing
• Check the wetness indicator – if the wetness indicator has disappeared over half the length of the pad (60%) or if the product contains faeces the pad requires changing. If not the pad can be reapplied
• Reseal and reuse the Slip when toileting if the product is clean and dry
• Do not stick tapes to the skin
• Clean skin as per your local policy. Clean from front to back
• Avoid oil based creams if possible. Powders should not be used at all. These will affect the absorbency of the pad, preventing urine being absorbed and placing the skin at risk
