Description

Attends Slip Active are all-in-one products designed to manage heavy urinary and/or faecal incontinence. The breathable textile like wings provide comfort and support around the waist, and the re-sealable fixation system provides a close and comfortable fit to minimise leakages. This pad has a poly back to aid containment and prevent leakages to let you get on with your day. It also has positioning tapes and two re-sealable fixation tapes for ease of fitting and is designed for men and women with little to no bladder and/or bowel control.

The Attends Slip Active has a white waterproof back sheet, and a two-step fixation system provides an easy fit. Use the blue positioning tapes to pre-apply the product and then fasten the wide tapes to secure the pad in place. The wetness indicator acts as a guide to when the pad requires changing, and the size and absorbency level is printed on the back sheet for easy identification. The product has an anatomically shaped core for a close comfortable fit, a superabsorbent core with acquisition layer for improved leakage protection, skin dryness and odour protection and leakage barriers that reduce the risk of leakage. The curved leg elastics are for improved fit and leakage protection, while the breathable textile like wings provide comfort and support around the waist and improved skin health.

Attends Slip Active have an Active Zone, which is the name given to the central part of the pad (also referred to as Mid 50) that contains a relatively high percentage of the raw materials Fluff and SAP compared to the edges (front and back) of the pad. It is generally accepted that the ‘pee point’ is situated in the centre of the pad which is why there is a need for high absorption and containment in this part of the product. The product also has Quick-Dry, which is the acquisition layer placed directly below the top sheet where the urine enters the pad. It quickly absorbs urine away from the skin and into the pad and prevents the urine returning to the surface. It can handle several gushes of urine without affecting how the pad works which results in skin dryness and leakage protection for the user.

The Attends Slip Active has SAP in the core of the product which locks urine away from the surface of the pad and from the skin, thereby reducing the risk of leakage. The more effectively urine is locked away inside the pad, the less risk of ammonia being formed. Ammonia is formed when urine comes into contact with oxygen and causes an unpleasant smell. The core technology with the curly fibre acquisition layer helps to guarantee a low pH which is similar to the skin. This helps to protect the skin and ensures improved skin health. Attends products are tested and approved to be skin friendly by proderm, Institute for Applied Dermatological Research.

Uses

Attends Slip Active are designed for men and women with little to no bladder and/or bowel control. They are all-in-one products designed to manage heavy urinary and/or faecal incontinence.

Application

Fitting Guide:
• Measure the hips and waist and using the larger of these two measurements ensure that the correct product size is selected
• Open the product fully and position the end with the wings and fixation tapes to the back ensuring that the wings are fully opened before applying the pad
• Make sure the back sheet is on the outside and the soft white inner lining is next to the skin
• Gently fold and cup the pad lengthways to ensure that the leakage barriers stand up

Application:
• Position the pad between the legs so that it fits snugly to the wearer and that it fits comfortably in the groin area – use the wetness indicator to help to position and centre the pad
• Gently pull the wing around to the front of the pad
• Use the blue positioning tape to pre-apply the product on both sides
• Fasten the tapes firmly onto the product
• When you remove the Slip, lift the white tape off the blue tape ensuring that the blue tape remains on the waterproof backsheet
• Depending on the anatomy of the user the wings may: A. Overlap, B. Be close to each other or C. Be close to the edge of the Slip

Hints and Tips: Selection:
• Consider selecting Attends shaped pad/pants before using Slips – they offer much greater discretion
• Choose the Slip according to hip or waist size – whichever is the largest
• Choose the absorbency based on the volume of urine passed. Start by choosing a lower absorbency number for example level 8 before moving to a higher absorbency for a more discreet and comfortable fit
• Slips can offer effective management for people who may pull out shaped pads

Hints and Tips: Fitting:
• Ensure you keep the ruffles on the flexible leg gathers on the outside of the Slip – this keeps the waterproof backsheet away from the skin
• Keep the adhesive tapes at the back when fitting the Slip – you then know it is the right way round
• Let the anatomy of the user decide whether the wing is applied like a belt or positioned in a more downwards direction
• If the wings overlap the tapes can be fixed on top of the wing
• If the pad is fitted when the user is laying down, follow the same sequence as for fitting the pad in a standing position. To make sure the pad remains in place, place a hand on the back of the Slip when the user is turned from their side on to their back
• Use the wetness indicator to centre the whole pad

Hints and Tips: Changing:
• Check the wetness indicator – if the wetness indicator has disappeared over half the length of the pad (60%) or if the pad contains faeces the pad requires changing. If not the pad can be reapplied
• Reseal and reuse the Slip when toileting if the product is clean and dry
• When you unfasten the tapes the blue tape should remain in place on the product
• Do not stick tapes to the skin
• Clean skin as per your local policy. Clean from front to back
• Avoid oil based creams if possible. Powders should not be used at all as these will affect the absorbency of the pad, preventing urine being absorbed and placing the skin at risk
Leakage:
• Check all aspects of fitting and assessment
• Check that you have the correct size
• Only increase the absorbency of the pad when you have checked it is not a fitting issue and following clinical assessment

Hints and Tips: Disposal:
• Roll up the pad and dispose of as per your local authority or National waste policy
• Do not flush the pad down the toilet
