Description

BSN Cutimed Siltec Sorbact is hydrophobic, antimicrobial foam dressing designed to manage exudate and bind bacteria under moist wound conditions. These dressings have a DACC-coated wound contact layer, superabsorbers above the foam core, silicone adhesive border and a backing film with a high moisture vapour transmission rate.

The BSN Cutimed Siltec Sorbact Dressing a bacteria-binding, absorbent , and is made with polyurethane foam containing super-absorbent polyacrylate particles, designed to quickly absorb and lock wound exudate within the dressing. The wound contact surface is bacteria-binding, constructed of Sorbact mesh, an acetate fabric coated with dialkylcarbamoylchloride (DACC) which has hydrophobic properties.

The Cutimed Siltec Sorbact Dressing is covered by a semipermeable and highly breathable polyurethane film. The fixation border has a silicone coating, that minimises trauma and pain during dressing changes. The outer film is water-repellent, yet permeable to oxygen and vapour.

The Cutimed Siltec Sorbact Dressing is the latest addition to the Cutimed Sorbact family, combining the infection management properties of Cutimed Sorbact with the fluid handling capabilities of Cutimed Siltec in one dressing. It is suitable for use on all contaminated, colonised or infected shallow wounds with moderate to high exudate levels.

The Cutimed Siltec Sorbact Dressing technology always keeps a great moist wound environment, and is also effective in absorbing viscous exudates. The superabsorbent particles capture wound exudate, even under compression, and has a practical and safe application. The vertical wicking and the upper semipermeable film avoid maceration, and the silicone adhesive border allows reposition the dressing and removal atraumatic and painless.

The Cutimed Siltec Sorbact Dressing has a transparent film that allows easy inspection of saturation of the dressing.

The Cutimed Siltec Sorbact Dressing comes in a box of 10.

Uses

The Cutimed Siltec Sorbact Dressing is indicated for contaminated, colonised or infected wounds with moderate to high exudate levels, such as chronic wounds (venous and arterial ulcers, diabetic ulcers, and pressure ulcers), postoperative dehisced wounds and traumatic wounds; after excision of fistulae and abscesses.

Application

Clean the wound according to treatment protocol.

Select an appropriate dressing for the wound size. For best results, the Cutimed Siltec Sorbact Dressings should overlap the wound margins by at least 2 cm.

Remove the protective film and apply the green side of the dressing to the wound.

Depending on the wound location it may be appropriate to apply additional dressing fixation.

Cutimed Siltec Sorbact Dressings should be changed as often as necessary, dictated by the wound condition. As with all absorbent dressings, monitoring is required to ensure the dressing does not dry out and adhere to the wound. The dressing should be changed when saturation of wound fluid becomes visible. In wounds that show signs of clinical infection, a more frequent wound inspection is advised. In these cases, an appropriate systemic treatment should also be considered.
