The Sharpsafe Bin is used for the disposal of contaminated sharps waste. The 4 Litre provides the ideal combination of cost-effectiveness and portability in areas of low to medium usage.

The wide aperture allows the easy disposal of needles and syringes. A translucent lid with clear internal flap and visible fill line help ensure that the 4 Litre is not overfilled.

The Sharpsafe Bin has a simple 4 click assembly, a clearly visibly fill line and has an in-mould label that offers permanent audit trail which cannot be removed.

The Sharpsafe Bin has a large aperture that allows the safe and easy disposal of needles and syringes, and a clear internal flap that offers added protection.

The Sharpsafe Bin also contains a translucent lid with clearly visible fill line and inkjet printed waste segregation message that helps ensure the Sharpsafe Bin is not overfilled. The clear, self-activating inner flap also ensures safe disposal of a number of different sharps that may be used. There is also a temporary and final closure feature.

Application

Assembly Instructions

Fit the lid and base together, ensuring that the line and label are on the same side. When the lid and base are aligned, apply pressure to each corner in turn until 4 clicks are heard. Ensure each corner is secured before use.

Rotate the lid up until it covers the aperture and continue to close the lid until a click is heard. This indicates the container is now in temporary closure.

Before use, familiarize yourself with the position of the fill line, label and the waste type printed on the rim. Fill in the details on the label, your hospital or site, department or ward. Also fill in your name and the date you assembled the container.

The Sharpsafe bin is now ready for use.

Sharps Disposal

Release the temporary closure feature by pressing down on the tab and rotate the lid until it engages in the open position.

Dispose of sharp objects into the Sharpsafe Bin by simply placing the sharp object through the open aperture, activating the containers internal flap. The flap returns to the closed position once the sharp object has passed through. Always return the Sharpsafe bin to the temporary closure position after use.

Sharpsafe Separation and Removal Features

If your protocol allows for the disconnection of sharp objects, you can separate the needle from the syringe by utilizing the removal features on the Sharpsafe Bin.

Leur Slip Remover

Place the rim of the needle under the Luer Slip remover. With the container held firmly, pull the syringe upwards until the needle slips off the syringe. Allow the needle to drop into the Sharpsafe Bin.

Leur Lock Remover

Place the needle into the leur lock remover. With the container held firmly, rotate the syringe anticlockwise until the needle unscrews from the syringe. Allow the needle to drop into the Sharpsafe Bin.

Needle Pen Remover

Place the needle pen into the needle pen remover. With the container held firmly, apply downward pressure to the needle pen and start to rotate anticlockwise until the needle unscrews from the pen. Allow the needle to drop into the Sharpsafe Bin.

Blade Remover

Place the scalpel into the blade remover until a click is heard. With the container held firmly, remove the scalpel handle at the same angle until the blade releases from the scalpel handle. Allow the blade to drop into the Sharpsafe Bin.

Always return the Sharpsafe Bin to the temporary closure position after use.

Temporary Closure Feature

The temporary closure feature should always be engaged when the Sharpsafe Bin is not in use. To release the temporary closure feature, press down on the tab and rotate the lid until it engages in the open position. The container is now ready for use.

To engage the temporary closure feature, release the lid from the open position rotate the lid until it covers the aperture. Continue to close the lid until a click is heard. This indicates the temporary closure is now engaged.

Final Closure Feature

Place the Sharpsafe Bin onto a suitable surface to engage final closure. With the container in temporary closure, press down firmly to engage final closure. Ensure all three clicks are heard to indicate final closure. Fill in the details on the label, with your name and the date that the container was sealed. The Sharpsafe Bin is now ready for disposal.
